Mayor Edward J.
Chavez
Edward J. Chavez joined the Stockton Police
Department in August 1973. He began as a Patrol Officer and
worked his way through the ranks. He was appointed to serve as
acting Chief of Police in February 1993, and was appointed Chief
of Police in August 1993.
In the past, Chief Chavez was assigned to various
divisions, including Patrol, Administration, and Personnel &
Training. As Chief of Police, he was responsible for the overall
operation of the Stockton Police Department.
Mayor Chavez's community involvement includes the
Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce, United Way, Council for
the Spanish Speaking, Lilliput Children's Services, Stockton
Rotary, Hispanics for Political Action, Leadership Stockton
Alumni Association, St. Luke's Finance Council, Stocktonian of
the Year Committee, and the Mexican American Chamber of
Commerce. He has served as a board member of St. Mary's
Interfaith Dining Room and St. Joseph's Hospital Community
Council; he currently serves on the Mary Graham Children's
Shelter Foundation Board. |

Joseph H. Johnson
Joseph Johnson is former President and CEO of
Union Safe Deposit Bank. He has thirty years experience in the
financial industry including President/CEO of three banking
corporations. Mr. Johnson is a member of the Independent
Community Bankers of America (ICBA) and the ICBA
Agricultural/Rural America Committee, and was appointed as Port
of Stockton Commissioner by the San Joaquin County Board of
Supervisors in 2000.
Mr. Johnson is the current Chairman of the Port
of Stockton, a trustee of the California State University,
Stanislaus Foundation, Chairman of the University of the Pacific
Eberhardt School of Business Advisory Board, and on the board of
San Joaquin Partnership, Business Council and Stockton Central
Parking District Committee.
In 1967, Mr. Johnson received his B.A. degree at
Claremont McKenna College and in 1969, earned his M.A. at
California State University, Fulton. He then went on to receive
his M.B.A. in finance from the University of Southern California
in 1974. |

Daniel J. Schroeder
Daniel J. Schroeder is an attorney and principal with the law
firm of Neumiller & Beardslee. His practice focuses on complex
business litigation, construction litigation, employment law,
entity formation, judicial foreclosures, unfair competition, and
eminent domain and inverse condemnation. Mr. Schroeder primarily
represents general contractors, subcontractors, public agencies,
municipalities, and businesses.
Mr. Schroeder is a member of the State Bar of California and
served as the President of the San Joaquin County Bar
Association in 1998. He is currently the President of the
Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Schroeder is Chairman
and member of the Board of Directors of the San Joaquin County
Workforce Investment Board. He is also active in the North
Stockton Rotary and served as its President in 2003-2004.
In 1984, Mr. Schroeder graduated from Fresno Pacific College
with a B.A. in Biblical and Religious Studies and in 1989,
earned his Juris Doctor from University of the Pacific, McGeorge
School of Law. While at McGeorge, he won the American
Jurisprudence Award in Conflicts of Law. |
