Signature Block
When we send a letter out on stationery we all know
what a signature block looks like, its name and title. The stationery
itself has the name of the chamber, the address, telephone and fax
number, e-mail address and web-site address, etc.
What about e-mails?
The signature block, since there is no stationery,
would include your name, title, your chamber name, street address,
telephone number and e-mail address. And always include a reference to
your web address.
This e-mail signature block should also be on any
newsletters that you send out and also your web-site.
We at Chamber101 receive hundreds of spam e-mails each
day. I do go through them and look for key words, which tell me that it
is coming from a chamber of commerce. The e-mail should be from
something that is recognizable, not from a name such as Joe Blow. The
subject should include something that is also recognizable such as
Chamber mixer, luncheon or project.
If these are being sent to my spam folder, how
many of your members are getting your e-mails in their spam folders? The
e-mail needs to be easily recognizable.
Your comments on this subject would be greatly
appreciated by return e-mail.

Gordon,
I agree with you. The Sherman Oaks Chamber is lucky to
have chamber in each of its email addresses - one for correspondence and
one for our meeting notices, etc. However, sometimes we wonder if they are
too plain as they don't tell WHICH Chamber.
I like the chamber emails that have initials or a
partial name. And certainly the subject is essential.

I concur.
Additionally, we want to "sell" ourselves every chance we get and by
having it in the signature, you're just reinforcing your brand. As you'll
see, we include our tagline as well.

Hi Gordon,
I think the email signature is a no-brainier, and yet I am surprised at
the number of members I have without one. Thankfully, so far, all have
appreciated my suggestion to add one. I believe the easier I make it for a
client to contact me, the more often they are likely to do so. Hope you
had a nice holiday. Cheers! Nancy :)

Gordon,
I really haven't given it much thought. We send MEMOS and ANNOUNCEMENTS.
Rarely do I send a letter by e-mail. Old fashioned I guess and I still use
'snail mail' for those. I will stay 'tuned' to what I get and give and
update you in the weeks to come. Have a great Christmas Season!!!
