The League of Women Voters of Los Angeles County, together with The Diamond Bar Chamber of Commerce, Jones Intercable, and the Diamond Bar Improvement Association, invite you to participate in a Candidates’ Forum to be held Tuesday, October 28, 1997, 6:00 p.m., in the So. Coast Air Quality Management District Auditorium, 21865 E. Copley Dr., Diamond Bar. All candidates running for a seat on the Diamond Bar City Council are invited. The sponsoring groups neither support nor oppose any candidate, but seek to promote an informed vote, to acquaint the voters with all the candidates and issues, and to encourage voter participation in the election.

The event will begin at 6:00 p.m., and is scheduled to conclude at 10:00 p.m. The candidates will make their opening statements, respond to questions, and then make their closing remarks. Each candidate will be limited to a three-minute opening statement and a two minute closing statement. Answers to questions will be limited to one minute. We suggest that your opening statement explain why you feel you would be a good council member.

A timer will be seated in the front row of the audience. In fairness to everyone, no candidate will be allowed to continue speaking after the allotted time has expired. The order of speaking will be determined by lot as each candidate arrives on the evening of the meeting. A seat will be reserved for you at the front table. In fairness to all, a substitute may not appear in your place if you are unable to attend. A table will be available for display of appropriate printed election materials.
