Chili Cook-Off
1. Each Team is made up of five members.
2. Contestants will supply all of their own ingredients, utensils, and
heat source for preparation.
3. All cooking will occur on site, any vegetables may be cleaned and
prepped (chopped or cut) ahead of time.
4. Setup of your booth may start at 8am but food preparation may not start
before 9am on the day of the event.
5. The fire company will provide a tent or booth, a table, bowls, napkins,
spoons and crackers for all contestants.
6. Contestants are permitted to sell only 3 sizes of chili - 1 oz. sample
size, 5 oz. bowl, and a 10 oz. bowl.
7. Pricing will be 1 oz $.50, 5 oz. $1.00, and 10 oz. $2.00
8. Contestants are forbidden from selling any other food or nonfood items
during the event.
9. Each contestant will supply (1) 5 oz. bowl of chili for the
"Chief" to taste. These bowls will be numbered and passed out
for the chief to sample and judge. Sampling will occur at 1pm.
10. All winners will be announced at 6pm.
11. The event will be open to the public 1pm until 7pm.
12. The Geistown Fire Co. will be selling cornbread, beer, and soda.
13. All contestants who have special requirements or who plan to arrive by
special vehicle (i.e. decorated cars, trucks, animals, hot air balloons,
or parachutes) are asked to notify the Fire Co. (3) days in advance so
that adequate crowd control measures are in place.
14. Live entertainment will be provided from 1pm until 7pm.
15. 5 gallons of chili is the required minimum.
16. The decision of the judges is final.
