Sierra Madre Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Each year since 1966, the Chamber of Commerce has solicited nominations in December for a Citizen of the Year. The nominations are then reviewed, and a Citizen of the Year is selected. The requirements are that the Citizen must have contributed to the overall good of the town, without monetary gain. The winner is honored at the annual Chamber Board Installation Dinner. The last few years the dinner has been held at 700 W. Huntington Dr., at what is now the Four Points Hotel. The schedule usually calls for cocktails at 6, dinner about 6:45, Chamber Board installation and proclamations, Citizen of the Year recognition. Each year, the dignitaries send their representatives who give proclamations honoring the outgoing Chamber President and the COY. And a raffle (oops, an opportunity drawing) is also worked in with donations from local merchants given away as the prizes. |
